Custom Laser-Engraved Hardcover Notebook featuring the Taiwanese Pangolin, Personalized with Text or Name - Notebooks & Journals - Paper Brown

Product Description

This is a custom-made product, please read the following details carefully before ordering. Feel free to message us with any questions! The Taiwanese pangolin, also known as the "mountain scaled ant-eater," is an endemic subspecies of the Chinese pangolin and the only scaly mammal native to Taiwan. The English name "pangolin" originates from the Malay word for "something that rolls up." When faced with danger, they curl into a ball, using their tail to protect their vulnerable neck and belly. Taiwan is rich with legends and sayings about pangolins. For instance, the Kanakanavu people of Namasia, Kaohsiung, have a legend where pangolins dug holes to save their people. In Nantun, Taichung, there's a custom called "wearing wooden clogs and treading on pangolins," where residents wear wooden clogs and stomp their feet at noon on the Dragon Boat Festival. This is done to wake up hibernating pangolins, hoping for a bountiful harvest. In Qishan, Kaohsiung, elders used to consider the pangolin a local earth deity. Commercial pressures once eroded this traditional reverence for nature, but now many communities are striving to revive the spirit of coexistence with wildlife.
