For the first wash, use a standard neutral detergent and wash several times. You can also wipe with a paper towel dipped in edible oil a few times to easily remove any residual gray titanium powder from processing. Afterwards, wash clean with a neutral detergent. If the colored surface of the titanium is scrubbed off, revealing the original color, rest assured that it is not a coating.
