Xiao Ping Fan Pottery Studio does not pursue mass production. Each creation is imbued with a unique concept and design, bringing pieces to life through purely hand-pinching or wheel-throwing processes. Every item is one-of-a-kind. Our works are a collaboration between my husband and I, hence the "Ping" or "Fan" signatures. Some pieces also bear the "Xiao Ping Fan Pottery Studio" stamp, making them utterly unique!!

**1. What is the origin of the works?**
We primarily use American clay, Japanese clay, and Taiwanese Miaoli clay for our creations.

**2. What is the wood firing process?**
American, Japanese, and Miaoli clays are blended in different ratios and shaped slowly through hand-pinching (not on a wheel). After basic forming, the body lines are refined, and then polished to complete the greenware.
Once in the kiln, the pieces undergo a continuous five-day, four-night wood firing process using natural longan and acacia wood. Temperatures reach over 1200°C. During this time, natural ash deposits adhere to the works, forming a special ash glaze. Simultaneously, flame patterns from within the kiln circulate among the pieces, creating beautiful orange-red or blue-purple fire marks.
After five days and four nights of ash and flame interplay, a week of cooling is required for each piece to achieve its stunning form! As the kiln atmosphere differs with each firing, the ash deposits and flame patterns on every piece are unique, ensuring each creation is truly one-of-a-kind!

**3. What should guests be aware of?**
Product colors may vary slightly due to photographic lighting. As works are purely handmade, they will retain traces of the making process. Slight variations, uneven rims, or minor production scratches may occur due to the firing process, which are normal phenomena and do not affect usability. We appreciate your understanding!
