A native of Huaining, Anhui (now Anqing, Anhui), he was a calligrapher, painter, and seal carver of the Qing Dynasty.
His clerical script style possesses the majestic power of Wei steles, along with clear and smooth characteristics.
The form is square with rounded edges, compact and ancient. The brushstrokes are vigorous and strong, with a deep, simple, and unadorned aura.
