A related creation from the "Local Series," translating the landscapes I love into natural deities.
***
Although historical records describe the Huwei River as once being a swift, flood-prone, and feared waterway, the erosion and shifting of its course have resulted in three rivers in Yunlin being called Huwei River (the New Huwei River, the Old Huwei River, and the section I have depicted, which is part of the Beigang River – Huwei segment). However, alongside the floods, it brought fertile soil to the land and biodiversity to the basin, becoming a home for waterbirds. Today, the riverbanks are a popular spot for people to walk, and I too have found solace there on many occasions. Its image, to me, is one of rugged gentleness.
