INSTRUCTION MANUAL ON ENGLISH CREATED BY GEOKUBANOID FOR ZENIT-S SOVIET LEICA BASED SLR CAMERA ABOUT ITEM'S ORIGIN (You can SKIP it!) Zenit-S is the Russian Leica copy. Ever wondered what a Leica with a built-in reflex housing would look like? The camera is essentially a Zorki-S (Leica II (D) copy) with a rangefinder replaced with a reflex housing. The film loads from the bottom, as in screw mount Leicas. The Zenit-S replaced the original Zenit in the mid-50's. It added a flash synchronization mechanism ("S" means "synchronization") and a new mirror drive - the mirror was lowered with a string. Next kind of Zenit, Zenit-3 was very similar with Zenit-S, except film advance lever, thus my booklet will applicable for it too. But next kind of Zenit, Zenit-3M, has other type of film loading and became uncommon with its prehistoric. One man bought good Zenit-S from Me before and after receiving the camera wrote the message: "...There is darkness in viewfinder, I disconnect the lens and don't see the mirror, is this camera SLR and in working condition?" Other problem with bottom loaded cameras is a special rules of film loading, a lot of people attempted to use same cameras with modern films, but without success.
