Late 19th Century French Ch. Fexel Mother-of-Pearl Opera Glasses This original late 19th-century French opera glass, from the Belle Époque era, features a body meticulously hand-inlaid with natural white mother-of-pearl. Under light, the shell displays a captivating and rare iridescent sheen of rose pink and rainbow hues, offering a warm and elegant texture. The eyepiece mount is engraved with the retailer’s name “CH. FEXEL” and the origin inscription “FABRICATION FRANÇAISE” (Made in France). This is an authentic French antique, not an inexpensive, mass-produced item from post-WWII Japan, India, or the Soviet Union. All metal components are solid brass. We have intentionally preserved the original patina and natural oxidation marks accumulated over a century, refraining from excessive polishing, to showcase the authentic charm and sense of history inherent in this antique object. The optical and mechanical structures remain in excellent condition. The focusing mechanism still extends and retracts smoothly, providing a clear view. It is a highly valuable piece for high-end antique collection, decorative display, or actual use.
