Jiuru Shanghao, an established Jiangzhe dim sum restaurant at the Ren'ai Circle! Founded in 1960, this establishment boasts over sixty years of history. When it comes to Jiangzhe dim sum, many long-time Taipei residents recall this very place. Famous for its Huzhou zongzi, Ningbo tangyuan, pork and vegetable wontons, and fermented glutinous rice, they meticulously preserve traditional hometown flavors. During Winter Solstice, Lantern Festival, and Dragon Boat Festival, the shop bustles with activity. People queue up for tangyuan during Lantern Festival and Winter Solstice, choosing from varieties like red bean paste, peanut, sesame, fresh meat, and fermented glutinous rice. Each flavor has its own devoted following. The wrappers are fine and soft, while the sesame filling is fragrant without being oily, and sweet without being cloying—remarkably balanced, truly balanced.

《About Jiuru Shanghao》
Founder Wu Chuansheng and his wife Zheng Lizhen opened their first establishment in 1960, next to the Star Theater on Heping West Road. The current main store is located at No. 69, Section 4, Ren'ai Road, Taipei City (next to the Dunhua South Road Circle). With their commitment to quality ingredients and meticulous handwork, they have forged a distinguished reputation in Taiwan's culinary scene. Zheng Lizhen (Grandma Wu) shares that the name "Jiuru" was chosen to signify "long-lasting prosperity." Over the past 40 years, Jiuru Shanghao has been passed down through three generations, now flourishing in its prime. In addition to cherished classics like Ningbo rice cakes, fermented glutinous rice tangyuan, Huzhou zongzi, and wontons that evoke nostalgia for older generations, the new Jiuru also offers exquisite Jiangzhe and Shanghai cuisine. Amidst the passage of time, the Wu family's dedication to authentic flavors remains unwavering, inviting you to savor tradition and experience modern tastes.
Serving Suggestions:
a. Jiuru tangyuan are made with water-milled flour. Please allow the tangyuan to thaw and soften before cooking.
b. Once the water boils, add the tangyuan and reduce to low heat. Cook until the tangyuan float to the surface and the wrappers appear slightly puffed, then remove and serve.
