The shop owner has always been fond of the tassel element since childhood, but with certain conditions (is this not true love?).
For instance, I dislike tassels on clothing or large tassels on jeans when they are too prominent or cover a large area. I almost exclusively prefer them as charms. I find small, dangling charms to be very cute – a subtle adornment that adds character without being overly ostentatious. As I've delved deeper into the world of pre-owned bags, I've started exploring other small treasures.
If you've paid attention to Celine, you'll notice their accessories aren't abundant, and bag charms are quite rare. This particular piece is one I truly cherish. A metal tassel charm, which is uncommon in the market. Older metal pieces possess a superior quality, without feeling flimsy or hollow. Most importantly, the drape is exceptional – a crucial aspect for tassels! It's akin to the popular wide-leg pants made from soft, flowing fabrics in recent years; users understand that good drape significantly impacts visual appeal. Therefore, I can confidently say that any "tassel" I select will have excellent drape! Otherwise, I wouldn't be interested (a bit of self-praise!). Regarding the charm's weight... I believe some people are quite concerned about this. Being metal, it will naturally be heavier than leather (you wouldn't believe me if I said it was super light, right XD?), but the overall weight is not excessive. Since it's just a charm, you don't need to worry about it being "too heavy"; it certainly won't feel like it would break your shoulder strap when attached to a bag. A unique characteristic of metal tassels is their subtle shimmer. In sunlight, as they sway, they create a delicate sparkling effect that is quite beautiful!
⚐⚑˒˒ The charm is in excellent condition with minimal signs of wear, graded as "beautiful condition," and comes with its original CELINE authentic box! This is a stunning metal tassel charm. The clasp features the CELINE engraving and the Arc de Triomphe logo, shining brilliantly. The clasp is an open-hook style, allowing it to be directly attached to a bag as a charm or used as a keychain. Opening and closing are completely normal and smooth. The metal bar above the clasp has the CELINE engraving, appearing as pure silver and sparkling, with slight signs of use. The way the tassels hang is beautiful; upon closer inspection, you might notice slight variations in the metal's hue, creating a natural, flowing effect under light. Overall, there are no obvious flaws, and it comes with its original box, making it perfect for gifting! It's lovely for both personal use and as a present.

The shop owner's primary reason for loving pre-owned bags is that the materials from older eras are far superior to those used in modern pieces. In the past, most pre-owned items were meticulously handcrafted, embodying a warmth that mass machinery couldn't replicate. The skill of artisans was far more refined than that of machines, much like how everyone appreciates products handcrafted by masters of their craft! Today, the vast majority of processes are automated with minimal human assembly, losing the exquisite detail of the past. I believe the simplest and most direct way to see this is by comparing the detailed patterns on newer "revival" monogram prints with the original vintage ones. The level of detail in the monogram alone is entirely different. If you love monograms, you absolutely must seek out pre-owned pieces! Truly!
In terms of style, older eras favored a more simple, timeless, and enduring aesthetic. Many current designs are actually revivals of older models. However, new designs come with a higher price tag. New designs are typically based on older models, with added details or modifications. The final product often ends up being more complex (or even peculiar......) than its predecessors. I believe as one matures, they realize that simplicity has longevity! As you grow older, even your clothing choices tend to return to basic styles, because the more fundamental, the more versatile.
The quality of raw materials in older pieces is also superior to newer ones. Anyone who understands leather can see this; the materials used in new pieces are often of a lower grade compared to vintage ones. This is mainly because the cost of high-quality raw materials is too high today, and their availability is scarcer than before, as global resources are dwindling! Furthermore, back then, brands didn't have the ubiquitous presence of countless stores like they do now. Their clientele typically had a certain income level and expected a certain standard in the final product. There wasn't the "fast-fashion" culture of today; a bag was expected to be used for many years.
The difference between new and old eras is clearly evident in the hardware. Many new bags' hardware oxidizes and discolors after just one or two years of use, but vintage pieces typically do not. Besides the use of high-quality materials and meticulous craftsmanship, hardware from earlier eras was often plated with real K-gold! It's worth mentioning that Chanel Vintage is expensive for a reason; many of its clasps and chains contain real gold, certified by gold appraisers! This is why even vintage bags from the 60s and 70s, if well-preserved, can still have gleaming hardware today. For the new models available now, based on my knowledge of brands, none of their hardware contains K-gold, hence they are prone to oxidation.
Many people consider buying Vintage bags a form of alternative investment because they rarely depreciate and often appreciate in value. This is because well-preserved pre-owned bags are becoming increasingly rare in the market, with each one that disappears being gone forever. Remember, each of these is a discontinued item; the number that exist is the total number that will ever exist, meaning they will only become fewer, more expensive, and harder to find. Moreover, many brands periodically increase their prices, and each increase drives up the market price for pre-owned items. If a brand releases a "reissue," vintage reference pieces or similar styles will see a sharp price increase! Add to this the recent trend of Japanese and Korean celebrities favoring vintage pieces; once a particular model is seen on a celebrity, its price can skyrocket, truly surge! This is because, for a period, many people will frantically search for that specific model or a similar alternative, causing the prices of those few items to multiply exponentially... Therefore, Vintage is truly a case of "buy early, enjoy longer; buy late, pay more" (this isn't an advertising slogan... it's a truth in the pre-owned world...). This is my personal experience; I regret not getting into the hobby earlier for many series, and now I can't find them, or if I do, the price is astronomical... But the issue is, even at astronomical prices, you're compelled to buy because waiting will only mean a higher price later (unless the condition is poor).
I often get asked about bag maintenance (ᐢ.ˬ.ᐢ). I'll include a small note with detailed care instructions inside the bag, so don't worry. My personal habit is to give them a polish when I'm organizing my wardrobe during seasonal changes (which makes each season change a major undertaking... |||). Pre-owned bags aren't really that troublesome. When you first start collecting, it's simply about getting used to regular maintenance and cherishing your bags. Once you develop the habit, it's not difficult. Pre-owned bags are made from excellent materials. As long as you don't use them roughly and store them properly, they can easily last another ten years and be passed down to your daughter! Every pre-owned bag I collect is one I genuinely love, so I hope you will too and can preserve it for years to come ☪︎ *.。☾︎.*·̩͙ If you're interested in purchasing, feel free to send a private message to ask questions. I welcome all inquiries; pre-owned items are sought by discerning customers who understand their value ⸜❤︎⸝.
