Tea Utensils: Kyusu (Teapot), Yunomi (Teacups)

Our tea utensils are carefully made by craftspeople in Hasami Town, Nagasaki Prefecture, a pottery production area with a history of over 400 years. From the old days, their way of creating functional and unique products that are in tune with the times, by developing new techniques with adaptable ideas and strong curiosity, has continuously been passed down to this day. The teapot is completed as one of the tea utensils with a lot of time and effort by molding the main body, lid, tea strainer, spout, and handle separately, assembling them, and then firing them. This slightly small teapot has a capacity of approximately 2.5 cups of the teacup, which allows you to savor every last drop of the tea’s concentrated flavor. The nearly spherical shape of the main body makes tea leaves circulate easily in the hot water, and the tea strainer is made of semi-spherical porcelain that has no metallic odor, allowing the original aroma and taste of the tea to be fully brought out. In addition, the teacups have a narrow bud-shaped lip to concentrate the aroma and allow you to enjoy the tea. They are designed to produce a nice mouthfeel, and for the tea to fall on the tip of your tongue, making you feel the flavor and sweetness first. Furthermore, the curves and roundness of the cup fit comfortably in your hand, giving you a sense of security and comfort.
