General-Purpose Small Bowl - Bowls - Wood

Product Description

Each piece is carefully made by craftspeople in Aizuwakamatsu City, Fukushima Prefecture, which is famous as a historical setting and a production area for lacquerware. Lacquerware made of natural wood has a longer history than pottery, and its main feature is that though light and thin, it does not easily transfer heat to your hands even when hot objects are put in it. The natural wood is made from carefully selected castor aralia from Hokkaido that grew in the severe cold. The shape of the bowl is primarily designed to have a wide flat surface, making it easy to serve “ohitashi” (boiled and seasoned vegetable side dish) and “konomono” (pickled vegetables), and then to carefully wrap the dish by raising the rim straight, enhancing the deliciousness. In addition, the traditional lacquered color of the bowl not only enhances the dishes and makes you feel their deliciousness and warmth, but also allows you to enjoy the unique aging of the lacquerware, which becomes more vivid as you use it. The bottom of the bowl is engraved with the motif of the “itadakimasu” (I humbly receive) and “gochisosama” (that was an honorable feast) hand gestures with which Japanese people greet each other before and after meals, expressing gratitude to those who cooked the ingredients and dishes. 【Country of manufacture】 Japan Fukushima 【Dimensions】 Small Bowl:φ150×H50mm 450ml Paper box:W170×D170×H65mm 【Material】 Natural wood(sen)
