Born in Hsinchu, Taiwan, in 1983, Kwood's background in craft design led him to wander the streets of Japan, experiencing how wooden art infused the old alleyways with warm, profound vitality. These objects, like fragments of time, carry the traces of history and the contours of the future, seeking a delicate balance between opposition and harmony. This translates into refined works that tightly connect the vision of a new generation with the simplicity of the past. In ancient times, agarwood was often ground into powder for its scent. In Japan, however, it was reverently placed in the most auspicious areas of the home, symbolizing vitality and light.
Sourced directly from its origin, the agarwood is pure and flawless, untouched by artificial processes like boiling glue, drawing lines, or adding fragrances. It is presented in its most original form. Through ancient scent-extraction techniques, the artist meticulously peels away the outer layers of the deadwood by hand, revealing the true soul of the agarwood. This not only imbues it with eternal vitality but also allows tradition and modern craftsmanship to subtly intertwine at the fingertips, creating a feast for both the eyes and the senses. Its rich aroma, like solidified time, gently draws together memories of the past and aspirations for the future, allowing them to meet and resonate within the fragrance, continuously extending, distant, and profound.
