This tetsubin is handmade by the foundry craftsman Kenichiro Iwato. Each piece is carefully finished using traditional techniques. The entire manufacturing process is made by a foundry craftsman.. This tetsubin has a flat, round shape called a "hiramaru" tetsubin. This tetsubin has a sturdy and heavy structure, making it outstanding not only for practical use, but also for interior decoration. The surface of the tetsubin is covered with cherry blossom petals. The rim of the lid is also decorated with cherry petals. The knob on the lid is designed like a flower bud. It is finished in brown by baking red lacquer. It represents a beautiful withered color that is not just gorgeous. In Japan, it is called "wabisabi". The inside is not enamel processed. The boiling water will be mellow. Nanbu ironware is baked using the traditional technique called kama-yaki to produce an oxide layer on the surface. It leads to "rust resistance" and "water quality improvement" and makes tea and coffee taste better. The water boiled in Nanbu iron kettle tastes mellow and sweet even when drunk straight. This is due to the effect of iron leaching into the hot water, but in order for the iron to leach out, the inside cannot be enameled or otherwise treated, and rust is liable to occur. In 1960, he took over the family business and devoted himself to iron kettle casting, making efforts to reduce the weight of iron kettles and improve coloring techniques.
