Plant introduction:
Kudzu, or kudzu vine, is a common climbing plant in the countryside in Taiwan and Japan. It can grow all year round, but its stems and leaves are of the best quality in spring and summer when there is abundant rainfall. After complicated processing, the fibers in the stems can become the source of materials for Japan's top fiber-making craft "kudzu cloth"; the leaves are evergreen and inverted triangle shape. The key to identification is the growth pattern of three leaves in a group. Today, I once again use kudzu leaves as the dye material, and use homemade copper Bronze as the mordant to complete two colors in total.
Description of the new colors of Kudzu leaf dyeing in summer 2025:
Wakameiro (わかめいろ), a traditional Japanese color, is defined as a light yellow-green color, emphasizing that the color is like the color of young buds of plants in early spring. Colors with the word "わか" in Japanese generally have a particularly light meaning.
Yellowish green (きみどり), there was no description for this color in the traditional Japanese colors in the past. The name of this color is based on one of the commonly used color names in the Japanese Industrial Standards (JIS). The relatively lighter color of the young buds here, the yellow-green color used this time presents the feeling of the dark green of most leaves in summer.
