| Original Artwork Introduction |
This work was first created in 1969, designed for the centerpiece atop the Chinese Pavilion at the International Park in Beirut, Lebanon. It draws inspiration from the Western concept of the "Phoenix" – its meaning of rebirth from ashes – and was adapted to suit the local environment. In 1979, Yang Ying-Feng was actively promoting laser art in Taiwan. In addition to forming the "Great Han Laser Science and Art Research Institute" with Hu Jin-Biao, Ma Zhi-Qin, and Yang Feng-Chen, he also created a series of laser art pieces. In 1980, Yang Ying-Feng completed [The Flame of Life] using the first piece of copper-plated stainless steel cut by a laser, produced domestically. It depicts a powerful fire phoenix, ablaze with rising flames, purifying and refining, awaiting a rebirth and renewal of life, embodying confidence and joy. It was exhibited at the 4th International Congress of Laser Surgery in Japan in 1981. It is also known as [Auspicious Bird].
