In the indigenous Guaraní language, Ñandutí means "spider web." True to its name, it is a delicate handicraft made with thread. Patterns are created by stretching a base thread and then weaving or knotting other threads into it. The embroidery is stiffened with adhesive, and once the embroidered section is detached from the fabric, it becomes Ñandutí. The texture is quite crisp and firm, maintaining its shape while retaining the soft feel of the thread.
