Custom Japanese Indigo-Dyed Vintage Fabric Leather Keychain (Engravable)

Indigo-dyed vintage fabrics first appeared during Japan's Meiji era, utilizing the traditional Katazome dyeing technique. The weaving, pattern creation, printing, and even cotton spinning were all carried out by artisan hands. Traditional Katazome designs feature various motifs, such as flowers and birds. The different shades of indigo dye each have their own fascinating names. About the Leather: Vegetable-tanned cowhide, a leather full of character. Vegetable tanning is the oldest tanning method, using tanning agents extracted from plants, such as tannins. This process involves repeatedly soaking the hide in tanning solutions of varying concentrations, taking one to two months. Vegetable-tanned leather is free from harmful chemicals like heavy metals, making it safe for direct skin contact, and it retains the leather's natural texture. Over time, with exposure to sunlight and moisture, the leather will gradually develop a lustrous sheen, darken in color, and acquire unique patina, a process some affectionately call 'leather nurturing'!
