**◈ A Word from the Designer**
This piece is from the "Vibrant Red and Purple" series, designed for a true beauty.
Carefully selected rare **Plume Tourmaline** and **top-grade Sandy Gold Red Tourmaline** from the tourmaline family are used in this design.
The ice-grade Plume Tourmaline features clear, ethereal, and unique pink and purple floral patterns that are endlessly captivating. Its colors are rich and vibrant, with a watery sheen. It is free of black spots and shimmers with a silken starlight effect.
The red tourmaline pendant is exquisitely carved into a Ruyi (meaning "as you wish") and an ancient coin (symbolizing wealth). The carving is exceptional, the colors are bright, and it possesses a distinctive **sandy gold fire brilliance, representing the highest quality of red tourmaline**. Intertwined with the ice-grade Plume Tourmaline on the chain, it exudes luxury and nobility, embodying the essence of "vibrant red and purple" and showcasing a woman's commanding presence, wisdom, and beauty.
**This is a one-of-a-kind piece, awaiting its owner destined for vibrancy, wisdom, and elegance.**
**A New Concept for 108 Bead Bracelets**
In traditional thinking, 108 bead bracelets are solely for Buddhist practitioners. Such notions are quite outdated now! :p
While 108 bead bracelets indeed originate from Buddhist scriptures and their length allows them to be wrapped around the wrist multiple times or worn as a necklace, they have evolved significantly. Today, the materials, designs, and decorative uses of 108 beads have progressed with the times, becoming more fashionable, layered, and versatile. Designers must adapt to users' preferences, crafting unique, customized pieces.
Furthermore, **108 beads have never been exclusively for Buddhists. Even non-Buddhists can embrace the auspicious meaning of 108 and its potential for layered styling.**
We often share with clients that a 108 bead bracelet is an external object. Regardless of our religious beliefs, chanting sutras or praying is primarily an inner practice. We should **not be bound by material possessions, nor hindered by them**. We shouldn't get caught up in the material of the bracelet, the number of beads, how to hold it, or whether to wear it on the left or right hand.
When holding beads, one should seek convenience and freedom. As the Diamond Sutra states: "All conditioned phenomena are like a dream, an illusion, a bubble, a shadow, like dew or lightning; thus you should contemplate them." Bracelets and prayer beads are also phenomena, so one should not be overly concerned with them. **Prioritize comfort in all things.**
**The Origin of 108 Prayer Beads**
108 prayer beads represent 108 kinds of afflictions. Within the six senses—eyes, ears, nose, tongue, body, and mind—each has three feelings: suffering, happiness, and indifference. Within the six senses, there are also three types: good, bad, and neutral, totaling 18. Combined with the three times—past, present, and future—this makes 108.
The concept of 108 afflictions signifies that sentient beings have 108 types of troubles, which can lead to various negative karma. Therefore, these afflictions must be eradicated to achieve a state of tranquility. Wearing prayer beads serves as a constant reminder to cultivate the compassion of a Buddha or Bodhisattva, maintaining a calm and unhurried demeanor in any situation.
In Tibetan, prayer beads are called "chang wa," meaning remembrance, recollection, or continuous memory. They symbolize the constant remembrance of gurus, deities, dakinis, and dharma protectors, as well as the continuous grace and wisdom bestowed by them.
**Plume Tourmaline**
Plume Tourmaline is produced in small quantities, often appearing with white, red, and purple co-existing, resembling abstract plum blossom patterns. The mottled coloration possesses a unique natural beauty, with higher degrees of vitrification (translucency) being particularly desirable.
Plume Tourmaline is a younger gemstone (formed over a shorter period), so its structure and hardness are not as compact and robust as traditional tourmaline. However, it is precisely this youthfulness that allows the mineral to exhibit its beautiful speckled patterns.
**Tourmaline**
Tourmaline, also known as Elbaite or the "rainbow gemstone," possesses exceptionally strong energy. Its vibrant, diverse colors and high transparency have been cherished since ancient times.
Tourmaline displays a rich spectrum of colors, encompassing all seven hues, and its energy can correspond to the body's various chakras.
When selecting tourmaline, attention should be paid to its color and clarity. Most tourmalines exhibit pleochroism (co-existing colors), with pure single-colored specimens being extremely rare.
**Ruyi**
The term "Ruyi" is easily understood, meaning "as one wishes," signifying the fulfillment of desires.
The Ruyi typically features a head shaped like "cloud patterns or a lingzhi mushroom" connected to a long handle, sometimes represented solely by the lingzhi or cloud motif.
The Qing Dynasty text "Shiwu Yiming Lu" states, "Ruyi was an ancient scratching tool," implying it was used as a back scratcher (akin to modern-day back scratchers).
Additionally, the Ruyi was used by ancient officials to record matters during court sessions (also known as "Hu" or "Shouban") and as a tool for commanding troops in warfare. Therefore, the Ruyi symbolizes wisdom, power, and auspiciousness.
We often see Bodhisattvas holding Ruyi:
"Guanyin with Ruyi" holds a Ruyi, symbolizing her ability to perceive all things, rescue from peril, avert misfortune, ensure success in all endeavors, and bring peace of mind.
"Manjushri Bodhisattva," symbolizing wisdom, holds various implements, each with a different meaning: holding a sword signifies cutting through afflictions; holding a blue lotus symbolizes pure wisdom untainted by defilement; holding a Ruyi represents wisdom and auspiciousness. Thus, Ruyi also carries the meaning of wisdom.

**◈ On Use and Collection**
1. Natural gemstones possess their inherent luster and unique textures (such as small black spots, stone lines, internal fractures, cloudiness, mineral inclusions, and asymmetries). With frequent wear, you may observe subtle color changes in natural gemstones, often becoming more translucent and captivating. This is also the best method of care.
Natural organic gemstones (like coral and amber) are low in hardness and sensitive to acids and alkalis. When dirty, avoid cleaning agents. Simply rinse with clean water and wipe with a soft cloth. A soft brush can also be used with a small amount of mineral oil (like baby oil) for gentle polishing and care.
2. Metal jewelry has a long lifespan. Avoid external damage or strong acids and alkalis that can cause fading.
3. Fabric materials (ribbons, cotton, gauze) are soft and comfortable to the touch and have a long lifespan. Avoid high temperatures, external damage, or strong acids and alkalis that can cause fading.
4. For jewelry of any material, when dirty, wipe with a soft cloth dipped in water as appropriate. For suitable materials, a moderate amount of neutral detergent can be used. After washing, ensure it is dried promptly.
5. When jewelry is removed, store it properly in packaging to minimize exposure to air and slow down oxidation and discoloration. Avoid stacking or placing heavy objects on it.
