About Wood Firing "Wood firing" is a traditional kiln firing method, burning at high temperatures above 1200 degrees Celsius with firewood. It features "fire marks" naturally left by the firewood on the ceramic body, and the natural ash from the burning wood creates warm and rich colors and variations in the work, a realm unattainable by electric or gas kilns. Compared to ordinary electric and gas kilns, the entire process of wood firing, from stacking the kiln, igniting, sealing the kiln, to cooling down, takes approximately 8-10 days. Furthermore, the high kiln pressure in wood firing, along with factors such as climate humidity, wood dryness, human speed of adding wood, and kiln stacking position, can all lead to the success or failure of the work, with a higher damage rate. Experienced wood-firing artists consider the kiln's airflow speed when stacking the kiln, planning the arrangement of works of different sizes, estimating the rise of the fire path, how to add wood and charcoal, and the intensity of the fire.
