He specially selects 100% "Tango Chirimen" premium silk kimono fabric for the exterior, dyed in black. The golden lines are meticulously applied with gold leaf, one stroke at a time, by hand. The lining varies with each creation. (This painstaking process nearly drove myself and the artisan to distraction...)
