A protein-based adhesive is evenly applied to the fabric, which then adsorbs the natural dye. Subsequently, a small amount of chemical dye is added to enhance colorfastness (resistance to fading from light, sweat, and washing, and to stabilize the pigment) without the need for a mordant, thereby expressing the beautiful colors of nature on the fabric. Natural dyes are not composed of a single element like chemical dyes. Each color contains multiple pigments; the interplay of weak and strong pigments, through diffuse reflection, presents a gentle hue to our eyes.
