These are SDGs-conscious jewelry pieces featuring *kintsugi*, upcycled from the ceramics of Fukukiku-gama, a renowned studio in Uji City, Kyoto Prefecture, known for its Kyo-yaki and Kiyomizu-yaki pottery.
Discarded and unusable pottery fragments are given new life, mended with *kintsugi*, and transformed into accessories.
The concept behind these creations is to foster a connection with nature and Japan's enduring traditions, reimagining them into modern jewelry that bridges the past and future, and unlocks new possibilities.
We've paired a grey pottery shard, adorned with a wavy pattern, with howlite stones.
These pieces sway gently with movement, exuding an elegant charm.
The sides of the pottery fragments are embellished with *kintsugi*, allowing the gold to catch the light from every angle and enhance the overall sense of refinement.
These accessories are perfect as a stylish accent for both casual and elegant ensembles.
Length: Pottery shard 15 x 11mm; Overall length: 30mm
Hardware: Surgical stainless steel ear posts (hardware cannot be changed)
Weight: Though made from pottery shards, they are surprisingly light and comfortable to wear.
As each piece is one-of-a-kind, they make for an ideal gift.
Consider them for a thoughtful present for someone special.
*As these are finished, one-of-a-kind items, we are unable to accommodate requests for hardware changes or future production. We also do not accept custom orders for pieces made with different specifications using the same type of pottery shards.
*The item pictured will be sent. However, if it has already been sold on another platform, it may be made to order. In such cases, please note that there may be individual differences in color, pattern, and size of the pottery shards and natural stones compared to the photos.
*“Kintsugi” is a traditional Japanese repair technique that mends broken pottery with lacquer and gold powder. This piece uses a modern, simplified *kintsugi* method. Unlike traditional *kintsugi* using natural lacquer sap, this technique utilizes adhesive for bonding. The *kintsugi* areas are created using lacquer (a manufacturer-produced coating, not natural lacquer) and gold powder (brass powder, pearl powder), with UV resin also incorporated for reinforcement.
