This is a vase created with hand-blown glass.
The outermost rim features olive green, transitioning to green towards the bottom,
followed by white just below, and clear glass for the base, creating a three-layered effect.
The colored glass is blown into its finished shape and then cooled once.
The surface is masked to create the pattern and then etched with sandblasting.
It is then reheated and blown once more to finish.
The pattern is lightly etched randomly to avoid a heavy impression.
The outer green color has slightly shrunk during firing,
pulling the white underneath to create a rim around the exterior.
The patterned areas are raised due to the thickness of the colored glass.
There is one bubble near the shoulder.
A flat piece of clear glass has been added to the base.
The vase is shaped like a sphere with a rising neck.
The patterns are not machine-printed; each one is hand-drawn or
created by cutting masking tape, resulting in slightly wavering lines and varied shapes.
Its slightly substantial thickness gives it a pleasing weight, making it stable for arrangements of various heights and volumes, including branches.
The sixth photo shows it with mid-sized roses.
* Not made of heat-resistant glass.
