"If you really love it, you should plant it in the middle of a park so that it can have roots."
Léon: The Professional is a French film released in 1994, directed by Luc Besson. The story follows Mathilda, who, having suffered long-term abuse, narrowly escapes a revenge killing by chance while running an errand for her neighbor, Léon. Léon, a hitman, intervenes and saves her. Left alone, Mathilda discovers Léon's true identity as a hitman and asks him to take her under his wing. They live together, with Léon teaching her his trade and Mathilda teaching him to read. Eventually, Mathilda discovers that the corrupt DEA agent was responsible for the murder of her family, including her younger brother, the only person who offered her hope. This discovery fuels her desire for revenge.
For Mathilda, a teenager who has never known familial love, the concept of love is capricious and emotional. She longs to be loved, to be loved with fierce intensity. In contrast, Léon's capacity for love was seemingly extinguished early in his life. Mathilda's ardent expressions of affection may have reignited a dormant longing for love within him. However, amidst the violent chaos, their pure love perishes in the deafening explosions.
