TAPANI: 3952 Laoshanyan - Named after the ancient place name of YuJing, Tainan, Taiwan, this is a high-quality basic writing model. Crafted from natural mother-of-pearl shell, as translucent as white jade, each piece is cut and meticulously assembled to best align the natural grain. This model features a special full shell design on both the top and bottom. The shell pieces, with their inherent natural patterns and colors, are polished by hand and then encased around a brass tube, finished with a thick layer of transparent lacquer. While the seams are visible, they are imperceptible to the touch. The natural patterns are breathtakingly beautiful and captivating (natural patterns, high-quality, random shipment). The pen is complemented by gunmetal gray electroplated fittings, an airtight cap, and a flexible spring-loaded clip, which is subtly engraved with the 3952 brand logo. The nib is a German JoWo #5 (WIN #10) vintage fude nib (M size), expertly ground and modified by Laoshanyan artisans into a vintage fude nib with a long blade-like tip. Hand-adjusted calligraphy nib: 1. For calligraphy nibs, it is generally recommended to first dip the nib in ink and allow it to break in for a period before using a converter. 2. If ink flow is interrupted when using a converter, check the angle at which you hold the nib. Ensure both iridium points simultaneously contact the paper; avoid writing with one side only. If ink flow is still interrupted, check the nib for any trapped paper fibers or debris. 3. Remove the converter and try filling the pen directly with ink (plunger fill). 4. Rinse the nib thoroughly. If you tend to write with one iridium point favoring the paper, or apply excessive pressure, it can cause the iridium points to misalign, leading to scratching and paper debris accumulation in the slit. 5. The calligraphy nib is an EF nib that has been adjusted to have a curved tip. Line variation is achieved not by pressing down, but by the angle at which you hold the pen, utilizing the nib's curvature to create varying line widths. Holding the pen more upright reduces the contact area with the paper, resulting in finer lines. The more you tilt the pen, the larger the contact area, producing broader strokes.
