TAPANI: 3952 Laoshanyan - Named after the ancient place name of YuJing, Tainan, Taiwan, this is a high-quality writing basic model. Utilizing natural mother-of-pearl shells, as crystal clear as Han white jade, cut into pieces and then meticulously assembled. Every effort is made to align the natural grain of each piece, resulting in a special design with full shell on the top and bottom. Each shell piece possesses its own natural grain and color. After manual polishing, they are expertly applied onto a brass tube and coated with a thick layer of transparent lacquer. The seams are visible but imperceptible to the touch. The natural patterns are breathtakingly beautiful and captivating (natural grain, high-quality random selection). This pen is complemented by gunmetal gray electroplated accessories, an airtight cap, and an elastic spring-loaded clip engraved with the 3952 brand LOGO.
The nib is a German Bock #180 (#5) small-size rose gold steel nib, handcrafted and finely tuned by Laoshanyan artisans into a calligraphy nib. It enhances the downstrokes and curves of Chinese characters, offering a smooth writing experience with effortless line variation, imparting a unique brushstroke-like aesthetic. A standard, unmodified straight nib is also available (in four nib widths: EF, F, M, B). If your handwriting is small or compact, an EF (Extra Fine) or F (Fine) nib is recommended. For larger script or if you're seeking a reliable signature pen, an M (Medium) or B (Broad) nib is suggested.
**Gift Set Includes: German SCHMIDT K2 Converter (ink not included) + One handcrafted black genuine leather pen sleeve by a Taiwanese master craftsman (style randomly selected) + 3952 Laoshanyan premium gift box packaging.**
Pen Dimensions: Total length approximately 149mm, barrel and grip section approximately 105mm, maximum diameter (excluding clip) approximately 14.5mm, total weight (excluding nib) approximately 41g.
Hand-ground and tuned calligraphy nib:
1. For the calligraphy nib, it is recommended to start by dipping it in ink for writing (do not remove the converter installed in the barrel to prevent ink backflow into the pen body after writing). Allow some time to adapt to the nib's characteristics, and then use the converter for filling and writing.
2. The calligraphy nib is created by grinding an EF nib into a curved, arched tip. Line thickness is not solely determined by applying pressure, but by the angle at which the pen is held, utilizing the nib's curvature to create varying line widths. Hold the pen upright, and the contact area with the paper is smaller, resulting in finer lines. As the pen angle becomes more oblique or with slight pressure, the contact area increases, producing thicker lines. The ability to write both thick and thin lines depends on your proficiency (each nib has a certain pressure tolerance; do not apply excessive force to avoid damaging or misaligning the nib. It is recommended to place a writing pad under the paper when writing).
In response to environmental protection, paper bags are not provided proactively. If you require one for gifting purposes, please inform us in the order notes after placing your order. Thank you.
Images are for reference only. The product is a single pen. Some photos may have slight color variations due to lighting and angles; the actual product prevails.
Note: Regularly clean and maintain the inside of the barrel and cap. When not in use, avoid storing the pen with the nib facing downwards for extended periods.
Gentle Reminder: Avoid pressing down on the nib or writing with the nib angled excessively to the left or right (for right-handed writers, it is recommended to hold the pen so the nib points towards the 10 or 11 o'clock position) to prevent accidental iridium point misalignment, scratching, or ink flow issues. The nib should be rinsed with clean water regularly to prevent ink clogs that may affect writing quality.
