[Peony Dyed] Organic Cotton Crinkled Fabric Sun Protection Arm Covers
This fabric is made in Kosai Takashima, by Lake Biwa, a renowned region for Takashima Chijimi, crinkled gauze, and crepe fabrics.
Using strongly twisted yarn for the weft, the yarn's tendency to untwist creates a "shibo" texture.
This results in a crisp feel and breathability due to the uneven surface, making it a summer material that doesn't cling to the skin.
Crinkled gauze fabric, traditionally used for summer undergarments, is characterized by its moderate stretch and a pleasant crispness and coolness similar to linen.
The uneven texture of the fabric creates sun protection arm covers that keep the skin away. The vertical "shibo" lines lend an elegant atmosphere.
They are designed with a relaxed fit, recommended for those who dislike tight arm covers.
These were dyed using a technique called botanical dyeing, with pigments extracted from plants.
The color is a soft, slightly muted pink, dyed with peonies.

[Washing Instructions]
Hand wash at home. Alternatively, it can be machine washed on a gentle cycle using a laundry net.
We recommend using a detergent free of fluorescent agents and bleach. Fabric softener is not necessary.
[What is Botanical Dyeing?]
Botanical dyeing is a dyeing technique that extracts pigments from flowers, leaves, roots, stems, trees, bark, and fruits. A natural adhesive derived from protein is evenly applied to the fabric, followed by the addition of a small amount of chemical dye. This process enhances colorfastness (resistance to fading from light, sweat, and washing, and aids in the stability of the pigment) without the need for a mordant, allowing the beautiful natural colors to be expressed on the fabric.
Natural dyes are not composed of a single element, unlike chemical dyes.
A single color contains multiple pigments; the gentle colors are perceived by our eyes through the diffuse reflection of both weak and strong pigments.
We hope you will enjoy the vibrant yet deep and gentle hues of botanical dyeing.
Botanical dyeing is an eco-friendly dyeing method that is gentle on both the earth and people, as it generates less water pollution and consumes less water during the dyeing process.
