This time, we will learn the whole process of the silk printing industry from the basics, from the color separation of the artwork, the photosensitive plate making, the color printing, until the completion of our own silk printing works. After class, the screen version can also be taken home to continue printing, and made into other items to give to friends.
This course is also a compulsory introductory course for novice members who are not familiar with silk printing before renting a studio for the first time. After completion, you will master the basic knowledge of silk printing, as well as the use of studio equipment, to the extent that you can create by yourself.
【Course focus】
◎ Basic knowledge
What kind of paper is suitable for silk printing? How to choose ink? Does the mesh originally have thickness and size specifications? We will answer these questions in class to equip you with the knowledge you need to continue creating in the future.
◎ Artwork design
There are certain limitations in the production of hand-spun silk printing, such as the thickness of lines, the size of fonts, and the separation of colors. The class will explain how to make corresponding changes within this framework to design artworks suitable for silk printing.
◎ Photosensitive plate making
The printing effect of the photosensitive platemaking method is precise and rich in detail, and it is the most commonly used platemaking method in the silk printing industry. You will learn how to use a photosensitive paste and a printing machine to turn artwork into silk for printing.
◎ Silk printing skills
Is there anything special to pay attention to when printing? How should I position it when printing multiple works? You'll learn these skills in class, plus more extended skills in printing and post-processing.
