Product Description

Author: He Zi Publisher: Little Fish Glossy Size: 147mm x 195mm Pages: 120 ISBN: 978-988-74948-0-5 【Content Introduction】 He Zi's daughter, He Ziwei, once said, "In the process of children's education, conveying messages through stories is often the most effective method." These fourteen stories are the culmination of He Zi's twenty years of editorial and writing experience. After reviewing countless children's literature works from ancient and modern times, both Chinese and foreign, he extracted their essence and then recreated and adapted them. Truly outstanding children's literature can be both "delicious and beneficial." While parents enjoy these vivid and engaging stories with their children, they also care about the nutritional value within. These fourteen stories possess the following "nutritional components": cultivating a spirit of cooperation, learning diligence over laziness, understanding the consequences of greed, learning from pride, understanding the way to make friends, recognizing credit where it's due, and being wary of the cunning. The fourteen stories in this book were previously published in the 1980s, scattered across two collections: "Pleasant Fairy Tales Selection" and "Fable Collection." Now, these stories are presented with exquisite illustrations, offering a fresh appearance to a new generation of young readers. 【Author Biography】 He Zi He Zi (1938-1991), originally named He Songbai, hailed from Shunde, Guangdong, and was a renowned Hong Kong children's literature author. He was the founder of "Shan Bian She" and the founding president of the "Hong Kong Children's Literary Association." He moved to Hong Kong with his mother from Macau in his childhood, completing his primary and secondary education there. After graduation, he worked as a teacher, editor of "Children's Post," sub-editor of the "Overseas Chinese Daily" supplement, and a freelance contributor to "Happiness Pictorial." He Zi consistently wrote columns for various Hong Kong newspapers and magazines, while also dedicating himself to the creation and research of children's literature. In 1971, he established a children's book company, founded Shan Bian She in 1981, and launched the monthly publication "Sunshine Home" in 1986. The publishing house primarily targeted the campus market, publishing popular extracurricular reading materials for children from preschool to university students, which were widely welcomed and praised. He Zi was a prolific writer, with his collected works including over thirty titles such as "40 Children's Short Story Collection," "26 Short Fairy Tale Collection," "My Children's Songs," "My Childhood," and "Bathing in Spring Breeze." Among these, the novel "Goodbye, Language Class" was selected as a recommended reading for national Young Pioneers; "My Childhood" was chosen as one of the ten best books in the 1991 "Middle School Students' Good Book Ranking"; "My Youth" received the second Hong Kong Chinese Literary Biennial Award (Children's Literature category) in 1993; and "Selected Essays of He Zi" won the fifteenth "Top Ten Books" award in 2018. In late 1990, He Zi learned he had cancer. During his treatment, he continued to write diligently, pursuing his unfinished aspirations within his limited time and dedicating his final efforts to his readers. As his condition worsened, he passed away in November 1991. Works from this period include "Facing Cancer This Way," "Letters to Middle School Students," "Letters to My Daughter," and "Footprints on the Path of Growth." His fairy tales include "The King's Strange Illness," "The Prince's Dilemma," and "Wedding in the Fish Tank," among others.
