UMUI team designs and the sewing is in charge of Machiko(79), over 50 years experienced local seamstresses. Her wisdom and high skill are the key of UMUI collection.
She wouldn’t want to waste both fabric and history of Japanese artisan work of Kimono. She has a warm respect for vintage works
and former Kimono seamstresses.
Each item has her ingenious works in various corners of the items such as sleeves, front inner, collars, the pattern matching, balances and patch working. Those tiny efforts to save the material is her speciality.
