Design Summary A few years ago, during a studio relocation, many cherished leftover materials and unfinished projects came into view. Perhaps it was a commitment to "eco-friendliness vs. respect" that sparked the design concept for our "Wooden Utility Knife." Design Philosophy Introducing the warmth of natural wood to the coolness of a utility knife, bringing a touch of organic comfort to your grip. The moment you hold it, you'll feel the ergonomic curves designed for comfort. In our material selection, we aimed to convey the natural grain and original scent of the wood. This piece is paired with the renowned Japanese brand, NT Cutter. NT Cutter is a brand of cutting tools manufactured by the Japanese company NT Cutter (also known as NTカッター株式會社). Founded in the 1950s and headquartered in Tokyo, Japan, the company initially focused on producing blades and blade holders before expanding to a wide range of cutters, including utility knives. A Brief Introduction to Taiwanese Hinoki Cypress: Chamaecyparis, belonging to the cypress family, encompasses six species. Scientifically, those truly referred to as "Hinoki" belong to this genus. Chamaecyparis trees are highly valued for their rich aroma, excellent insect-repellent properties, and resistance to decay, making them prized for lumber and construction. Consequently, extensive logging has led to their classification as protected species. These trees grow tall, large, and live for a long time, found in North America, Japan, and Taiwan.
