【Book Description】
On a night of falling fire,
A female warrior is hacked, her mind reeling as she secretly connects with her strategist…
Black Eyes embraces her warm body, awaiting the arrival of a phenomenon, while beginning to narrate the ancient stories and doomsday legends of City H.
After ten years of writing, critic and novelist Tam Yee-lok presents his second novel, continuing to explore a Hong Kong that is both complex and wildly absurd. In Tam Yee-lok's portrayal, City H, perhaps a metaphor for Hong Kong, is filled with peculiar and bizarre events that feel strangely familiar: residents living on turtle shells later move ashore; some float in from coffins; the Hua family started by growing mushrooms, searching for suitable land in the mysterious regions of City H to bring "prosperity and peace" to its people… Tales of rise and fortune quietly emerge within this metaphorical City H.
Borrowing from Dung Kai-cheung's perspective, the stories of City H unfold thus: "Somehow, reading Tam Yee-lok's new novel immediately evokes a strong sense of a virtual online world. My first thought was SimCity. Perhaps it's because the novel is filled with cities and regions represented by letters, along with mountains, water, bridges, walls, railways, streets, and the imagination of 'growing houses.' While all these point to a basis in reality, they also read with such a virtual quality."
