A necklace crafted by linking an antique Indian silver top, old blue mikan beads and Mizoram carnelian, gold-red white hearts, white beads & turquoise green chevron, and more. The top piece is antique Indian silver, dating from the 19th to early 20th century. We imagine it will develop a unique luster with wear. At its center is depicted Bhumiya Ji, a legendary hero from Rajasthan, India, shown on horseback. (Top dimensions: 2.4cm length, 1.5cm width, including the loop.) The vibrant blue beads were made in China between the 1920s and 1930s. Their lustrous and beautiful shape are reminiscent of traditional Japanese beads. They feature minor imperfections. (Mikan bead dimensions: 0.85cm width, 0.95cm diameter.) The orange beads are Mizoram carnelian, heirloom pieces from the Mizoram state in eastern India, believed to be from around the 18th century. Their color variation makes them incredibly expressive. The deep red beads are antique beads known as white hearts, named for the white core visible when broken. These are Venetian beads from around the 19th to 20th century. Deep red white hearts are rare, as their color is achieved through gold-infused pigment, making them known as "gold-red" white hearts. A single Tibetan turquoise bead is incorporated into the strand of gold-red white hearts. The dull gold beads and the anchor-like small charms next to the Mizoram carnelian are old Orissa brass from Orissa, India. These are very rare brass beads. The small charms near the clasp are also antique brass from India. The plump, pot-shaped silver beads flanking the TOP, and the round top near the clasp, are exceptionally rare old Chin silver. These are heirloom pieces from around the 18th-19th century, originating from Burma. Used by Chin women in their necklaces, they show unique wear and endearing imperfections. Their weight and presence are incomparable to modern silver (though some modern pieces are indeed stylish...). These antique beads have seen a significant price increase in recent years. The beads with turquoise green stripes are chevron beads. "Chevron" in English means "mountain shape" (in Italian, Rosetta). These are considered the "nobility of beads" due to their cost and significance. These are the smaller variety of chevron beads. Turquoise blue chevron beads like these are rare and hard to come by! The white beads are antique Venetian beads (19th-20th century). These were made in Venice and found their way to Myanmar as heirloom pieces. They possess a beautiful patina and great character. The clasp and intervening beads are Karen silver. ◇ Karen Silver ◇ This silver is crafted by the hill tribe people residing in Thailand and Burma.
