English bone china tea cup set from the Val D'or series made by Royal Albert

Vintage English bone china tea cup and saucer from the Val D'or series made by Royal Albert. Thomas C. Wild bought the Albert Works in Longton, Stoke on Trent in 1895. This factory had been named after Prince Albert, Queen Victoria's Consort. It specialised in tea, breakfast and dessert pieces with floral designs, and it soon gained a reputation of producing beautiful china tea & breakfast sets, firmly establishing the Royal Albert name. The Val D'or design was introduced in 1962. It is translucent white bone china in the baroque Montrose shape with fluted edges. The back stamp style on this set was in use in the 1960s and 1970s.
