Kani | Double-Sided Cashmere Scarf • Pomegranate
What is KANI?
Kani refers to small wooden sticks. Different colored yarns are wound around different Kani sticks, and then woven together on warp threads according to a special coded pattern to create the appearance of a motif. The richer the colors and the more complex the pattern of a Kani, the longer the working hours required. A single piece takes at least 3 weeks or more to produce, making it an extremely meticulous and patient craft.
Even when dressed simply and elegantly, draping a Kani shawl over your shoulders instantly elevates your entire presence! Indian celebrities and VIPs, both men and women, are often seen draped in Kani shawls during special guest receptions as a gesture of respect and a display of status. Just look at the threads on the reverse side to understand the exquisite craftsmanship is truly uncompromising!
Material Introduction:
India and Nepal are home to many world-class luxury goods, such as Cashmere scarves. While a sheep produces several kilograms of wool per year, a cashmere goat yields only about 150 grams. Those who have used cashmere know. Compared to typical wool scarves that can feel stuffy and heavy, cashmere is in a completely different league. It's exceptionally warm, with a texture that is both light and lustrous, earning it the nickname "diamond fiber."
