The fabric is a jacquard material woven with a phoenix pattern. It is carefully dyed by hand-printing, and each edge is hand-rolled and hand-stitched without the use of a sewing machine, giving it a softly raised, dimensional finish. ■ About Gashoen Gashoen is a group led by Takushi Ueda of the Kanze school of Noh theatre. Based in the scenic area of Shukugawa in Hyogo Prefecture, the group carries out a wide range of activities to help people of all generations become more familiar with Noh. “Noh is a performing art that has continued uninterrupted for about 650 years. Through this collaboration, we hope people will discover the charm of Noh, which has long captivated hearts and minds.
