Sky Blue and White Glazed Single-Flower Vase

This single-flower vase is crafted on a potter's wheel, inspired by the graceful, widening oval shapes of raindrops or eggs, using coarse red earthenware clay that evokes the warmth of pottery. A sky-blue glaze is applied to the upper portion, while a glossy white glaze adorns the lower part. The interplay of the two glazes creates a color palette that is both warm and refreshing. Blue vessels are said to pair beautifully with colors such as white, yellow, and pink. Enjoy coordinating them with various flowers like baby's breath, statice, Craspedia, or rose hips. All stages of production, from clay preparation to shaping, trimming, drying, bisque firing, glazing, and final firing, are meticulously done by hand in my home studio, which is equipped with an electric potter's wheel and a medium-sized electric kiln. Due to the porous nature of pottery, a water-stopping agent will be applied for waterproofing. While this treatment has been tested to prevent water seepage for approximately 40 hours, there is a possibility of slight moisture appearing on the bottom due to evaporation. If this is a concern, placing a fabric mat underneath can provide peace of mind during use. I explore various glazes and clays, seeking the best combinations to create a diverse range of pottery in various colors and shapes.
