Slightly coarse white earthenware clay with a satisfyingly rustic texture. A crystalline glaze featuring white crystals scattered across a blue-green base, reminiscent of a snowy landscape. These materials have been combined to create this round, shallow bowl. This crystalline glaze is fascinating, as subtle variations in the thickness of the glaze application and firing temperature can lead to significant differences in color. In this particular firing, the glaze application was thinner overall. Therefore, after the initial firing, the glaze was reapplied and fired once more. The rim and the underside reveal the earthy tones of the clay, appearing as a pale terracotta. In areas where the glaze was reapplied, characteristic bluish-white crystals dance, and indigo patterns emerge along the potter's wheel marks, resulting in a vessel with a unique atmosphere. The form features a slightly inward-curving rim, making it ideal for holding ingredients with some moisture. Perfect for soups, stews, and simmered dishes. Also suitable for light noodle dishes or rice bowls. And for desserts like kuzu kiri, anmitsu, or shiruko. Enjoy it with a variety of Japanese and Western dishes, as well as desserts. The creation process involves preparing the clay, shaping, bisque firing, glazing, and final firing, all by hand, using a small electric kiln and a potter's wheel at home.
