ABOUT ITEM'S ORIGIN (You can SKIP it!) PHOTOSNIPER is a famous complete set based at Soviet (and later on at Russian) ZENIT cameras. First PHOTOSNIPER's were introduced since 1965 at KMZ plant at Krasnogorsk town, it were based at Zenit-ES cameras (slightly changed Zenit-E camera. Later on PHOTOSNIPER's based at different cameras, but has common lens: excellent 300mm Tair-3 lens, which received Gran Prix medal at Brussels in 1958. Also those PHOTOSNIPER's has common idea: main parts composed like a gun, which makes those heavy device enough convenient for shootings without the tripod. ITEM'S CONDITION: EXCELLENT+ The glass is very clean, without scratches or fungus, but very minor cleaning marks sometimes can be found. Focusing dial rotates smoothly. Aperture jumps properly. Cosmetically the lens looks very accurately used before, just examine item's photos, please. All functions are available. TECHNICAL FEATURES * Focus 300 mm. * Angle of view 8 degrees. * Aperture from 4.5 up to 22. * Aperture requires pre-cocking to adjust the sharpness with most bright image. When the shutter is fires, a special lever release the aperture and it "jumps" to pre-installed meaning. If you intend to use the lens to cameras other that Photosniper, it can bring some troubles to you, even the lens will usable. * Mounting: M42x1mm (known also as Pentax Screw Mount), same with huge quantity of lenses for old Practica, Pentax, Yashica, Cosina and other cameras with optical registration 45.5mm. It looks that M42 ring is removable and can be changed to other adapters. * Mounting for modern SLR & dSLR cameras will not bring any trouble with well-spread M42 adapters. * The lens is well-applicable for digital cameras with micro 4/3 system and other with working distance 45.5mm and less, with the use of adapters: All Sony NEX, Olympus, Panasonic: Lumix DMC-G1, DMC-GH1, DMC-GF1, DMC-G2, DMC-G10, Epson, Samsung and other. * If you intend to use the lens at other cameras, than Photosniper, please think how to use very special kind of aperture driving at the lens. * The lens have exchangeable rear part type A in Soviet terms. You can look for original Soviet adapters for M39x1mm groove for old Zenit & Kristall cameras, and KP-A/N for Nikon F bayonet for Nikon and Soviet SLR Kiev cameras. * Resolution of the lens is not less than 36 lines on mm in the center and 30 lines on mm on the edge of frame. * Focusing is made by uncommon dial at the bottom part of the lens, there is very convenient to rotate it when the camera is combined with the butt. * Focusing is from 3m up to "infinity". * Filter mount 72x0.75mm. * Tripod mount 3/8", it allows to mount this heavy telephoto lens on usual tripod. * Weight: 1.46 kg. * Made at Krasnogorsky Optical and Mechanical Factory (KMZ) in 1985.
