The works from Xiao Ping Fan Pottery do not pursue mass production. Each creation possesses a unique concept and design, imbuing the pieces with life through purely hand-pinching or wheel-throwing processes. Every item is one-of-a-kind. Our pottery is a collaborative effort between my husband and I, hence the signatures "Ping" or "Fan." Some pieces also feature the "Xiao Ping Fan Pottery" seal. Truly unique!

**1. What is the origin of the works?**
We primarily use American clay, Japanese clay, and Taiwanese Miaoli clay for our creations.

**2. What is the wood-firing process?**
American clay, Japanese clay, and Miaoli clay are mixed in different proportions. The creation process involves pure hand-pinching (not a pottery wheel) to gradually form the shape. After basic shaping, the body lines are refined, followed by polishing to complete the greenware.
Once placed in the kiln, the wood fire from natural longan and acacia wood burns continuously for five days and four nights. The temperature reaches over 1200 degrees Celsius. During this time, natural ash deposits adhere to the works, forming a special ash glaze. Simultaneously, the kiln's flames create patterns that flow between the pieces, resulting in beautiful orange-red or blue-purple flame marks.
After five days and four nights of ash and flame interplay, a week of cooling is required before a piece achieves its beautiful form! Because the kiln atmosphere differs with each wood-firing, the ash deposits and flame marks on each piece are never the same, making every work uniquely singular!

**3. What should patrons be aware of?**
Product colors may vary slightly due to photographic lighting. As works are purely handmade, traces of the crafting process will be evident. Minor variations may also occur during firing, such as slight imperfections in the rim or small production scratches, which are normal and do not affect usability. Your understanding is appreciated!
