This artifact originates from Zibo Boshan, Shandong, the cradle of Chinese glassmaking, with a heritage spanning over a thousand years. It carries on the ancient Boshan glassmaking techniques and holds national Geographical Indication certification.
Historically known as "medicinal jade," glass was once reserved for imperial use in ancient China. Boshan glass is an internationally recognized intangible cultural heritage, offering multifaceted value for daily tea rituals, desk adornment, display, and collection.
Craftsmanship Introduction
Each piece is purely handcrafted, adhering to the Ming and Qing dynasty wax-lost casting and hand-blowing techniques. Over forty intricate steps are completed by hand, forged in a kiln at a blazing 1400°c. During the high-temperature firing, the glass body naturally develops a fine, crystalline bubbly texture. The distribution of patterns in each item is celestial and unique.
Material Description
Melted from local Boshan natural mineral powders at high temperatures, the glass body is dense and high-silica, giving it a substantial, weighty feel. A light tap produces a clear, resonant metallic sound. Formulated without lead and rigorously tested by authoritative bodies for food contact safety, it ensures peace of mind for daily tea use. The colors are fused into the glass body itself, not applied to the surface, ensuring they will never fade or peel, becoming more refined and pleasing with time.
Before Purchase
* As each piece is handcrafted and fired by artisans, not mass-produced, the distribution of bubbles and fine details will vary slightly from one item to the next.
* During kiln firing, minor imperfections such as tiny pinholes, natural dark spots, faint lines, or slight polishing marks are inherent to handcrafted glass and are not considered flaws. These are natural imprints that signify the unique life of the piece and do not affect its normal use.
Warm Reminder
Handcrafted glass is not a material that tolerates extreme temperature changes. Please avoid sudden temperature shifts during use and refrain from pouring boiling water directly onto it.
