"Jiao Tai," meaning the combination of different clays, utilizes distinct colored ceramic clays for each hue within the piece. These colored clays are shaped into long strips or flattened sheets, then arranged into a columnar form according to various patterns, resembling fish cakes or sushi rolls. After slicing vertically, several sections are assembled together, then flattened and molded into vessels. Once semi-dry, the form is refined and undergoes bisque firing at 850 degrees Celsius. The bisque-fired piece is then sanded, coated with a thin transparent glaze, and fired at a high temperature of 1230 degrees Celsius. Due to the Jiao Tai technique, patterns appear on both sides of the vessel. Furthermore, the flattening and molding processes before shaping cause the patterns to distort, creating unique, flowing, or warped effects characteristic of this technique, which are lively and engaging. As tableware, these pieces add a touch of playfulness to everyday life on the dining table and during meals. Vessels with different color combinations, shapes, and patterns, when adorned with desserts, fresh fruits, or delicacies, make every day a joyful occasion.
