Jiaotai Porcelain Plate - Lanternfly - Plates & Trays - Porcelain Pink

Product Description

"Jiaotai" means the combination of different clays. Each color within the vessel is a distinct type of porcelain clay. These colored clays are kneaded into long strips or rolled into long sheets, then assembled into a long column according to different patterns, resembling fish cakes or sushi rolls. After slicing vertically, several pieces are joined together, then patted and rolled flat before being shaped into the vessel. After partial drying, the piece is trimmed and bisque fired at 850 degrees Celsius. The bisque ware is then sanded with sandpaper, coated with a thin transparent glaze, and fired at a high temperature of 1230 degrees Celsius. Due to the Jiaotai technique, patterns appear on both sides of the vessel. Furthermore, as the piece is flattened and shaped before firing, the patterns warp and flow, creating a unique and lively effect characteristic of the Jiaotai technique. As a tableware item, displayed on the dining table and accompanying meals, it adds a touch of fun to daily life. With various color combinations, vessel shapes, and pattern arrangements, whether holding sweets, fresh fruit, or fine cuisine, each day becomes a delightful occasion.
