[Chiayi Fuyuan] Peanut, Salted Egg Yolk, Mushroom, and Chestnut Pork Zongzi (6 pcs) - No Gift Box
From north to south, zongzi are prepared using different steaming and boiling methods. In southern Taiwan, zongzi are primarily boiled, allowing the aroma of the zongzi leaves to infuse into the sticky rice. This tender, chewy glutinous rice has become a unique element of southern Taiwanese rice-based cuisine.
Fuyuan carefully selects local Beigang peanuts, paired with premium pork shoulder, salted egg yolks, Taiwanese shiitake mushrooms, and whole chestnuts, all enveloped within the zongzi. Take a bite and experience a chewy texture filled with rich flavors and a nostalgic taste. It's not only a familiar delicacy for Chiayi locals but also a must-buy local specialty when visiting Chiayi.

Brand Story:
A couple who were diligently running a self-service restaurant found that the pork zongzi personally made by the wife were generously filled and praised by every customer who tried them. This led them to decide to focus exclusively on making zongzi, naming their shop "Fuyuan" with the hope that customers would feel the happiness of their family and an endless flow of good fortune. Despite facing many initial setbacks, their dedication to zongzi led them through considerable hardship. Using the freshest ingredients to make the most satisfying zongzi for their customers is Fuyuan Zongzi's guiding principle. The couple would begin preparing ingredients before dawn, and with the husband's resilience and the wife's warm hospitality, they built Fuyuan Zongzi to its current scale. Currently, the shop offers nearly twenty varieties of zongzi, all featuring unique fillings meticulously developed by the wife based on customer preferences. Fuyuan Zongzi's commitment to quality allows those who taste it to feel that zongzi are more than just traditional festive food; with each bite, they can savor the taste of happiness!
How to Serve:
(1) Boiling: The best method. Frozen zongzi do not need to be thawed.
For regular zongzi: Place the zongzi and cold water in a pot simultaneously. Once the water boils, simmer over low heat for 25 minutes. Turn off the heat, remove from the pot, and drain the water.
Quick Tip: Let the heated zongzi cool for a few minutes before eating for a chewier texture! For chilled jian zong, refrigerating after cooling enhances the texture!
(2) Electric Cooker: Frozen zongzi do not need to be thawed.
For regular zongzi: Add 300 c.c. of water to the outer pot (approximately two rice cooker cups for a Tatung electric cooker).
Quick Tip: Be careful not to use the inner pot, as it can hinder steam circulation, making it harder to cook through. It is recommended to use a steaming rack or a shallow plate.
If you are unsure whether it is fully heated, insert a chopstick into the zongzi. If it passes through easily and feels hot to the touch, it is ready.
Our products do not contain preservatives. For freshness, please consume promptly after heating.
A Note: Water quantity should increase with the number of zongzi. The desired softness of the zongzi can vary from person to person; you can adjust the water amount and simmering time according to your preference.
