Crafted from coarse red earthenware clay, this piece offers a comforting, pottery-like warmth.
After being shaped into a simple, square mug, it is adorned with a carved pattern inspired by the quince flower.
The entire cup is fired with a matte glaze, giving it a rustic texture, and then hand-painted along the carved lines and fired again.
The texture created by the red earthenware clay and matte glaze imparts a cozy warmth that is characteristic of pottery, and this combination has been a favorite among our customers.
Its off-white hue beautifully showcases the clear colors of beverages like green tea or black tea.
The wider base provides excellent stability, making it a practical choice for your work desk.
We hope you enjoy it with a variety of your favorite drinks.
All stages of creation, from kneading the clay to shaping, bisque firing, glazing, and final firing, are meticulously done by hand in my home studio, which is equipped with a small electric kiln and a potter's wheel.
While mass production is not possible, each piece possesses its own unique character, offering the distinct charm of handmade artistry.
The item you will receive is the one shown in the product images.
The base has been polished with sandpaper to minimize any potential scratching of your table surfaces.
I continuously explore new combinations of glazes and clays, creating a diverse range of pottery in various colors and forms.
Each piece is unique, bearing a resemblance to others but ultimately being a one-of-a-kind creation.
It would bring me great joy if you find a piece that truly speaks to you.
I hope you will find this cozy ambiance, woven from clay and glaze, to be a delightful addition to your daily life.

*Important Notes for Purchase and Use*
- Due to the porous nature of pottery, it may absorb liquids, potentially leading to staining within crazing or slight seepage.
To address this, all our ceramic items undergo a waterproofing treatment using a food-safe sealant before shipping, eliminating the need for initial conditioning (me-dama).
This treatment requires 2-3 days to complete, which is why we allocate 5 days between order placement and shipment.
If you prefer not to have this treatment applied, please inform us at the time of purchase.
- The color of the glaze can appear more white under natural daylight or white lighting, and exhibit warmer red or yellow tones under evening light or warmer ambient lighting.
- Cutlery shown in product images is not included.
- While we strive to capture the most accurate representation of the product in our photos and edits, please be aware that colors may appear differently depending on your monitor settings and ambient light conditions.
- As this item is also sold on other platforms, in the rare event of overlapping purchases, priority will be given to the customer who completes the purchase process first. We appreciate your understanding.
- While the mug can be used in a microwave (for gentle warming) and dishwasher, the vibrations from microwave use and the high-pressure spray in dishwashers may accelerate wear over time. We recommend using these appliances sparingly.
- Please refrain from using the mug in ovens or over open flames.
- After use, to prevent stains and mold, please wash thoroughly and ensure the item is completely dry before storing it in your cupboard or cabinet.
