These are SDGs-conscious Kintsugi jewelry pieces, upcycled from the ceramics of CEN, a Kyoto-based artisan in Uji City, known for Kyo ware and Kiyomizu ware. We repurpose cracked or chipped ceramics that are no longer in use, applying Kintsugi to transform them into accessories. Our concept is to breathe new life and possibilities into these pieces, creating modern accessories that connect to the future while allowing wearers to feel close to nature and Japan's enduring traditions. Gentle yellow and white ceramic fragments are joined with Kintsugi and adorned with freshwater pearls. The sides of the ceramic pieces are also accented with Kintsugi, creating a gleaming gold detail that catches the eye and adds an elegant touch. This artwork uses a modern, simplified Kintsugi technique. Unlike traditional Kintsugi with pure lacquer derived from the lacquer tree, this process uses adhesive for the primary bonding.
