About the author:
Author: Teacher Yu Huayu
Born in 1980, he was exposed to the mysterious hand-drawn pottery making during his junior high school years, which he has never forgotten. After retiring from the army, he went north to Yingge alone and studied under two teachers, Wu Guorong and Wu Jiancai, which laid his foundation for drawing and firing pottery. After establishing a workshop, he carefully researched and developed. During this period, he won the Taiwan Golden Pot Award for Ceramic Design Competition at the Cultural and Creative Expo. Gold Medal, Fucheng Taiwan Crafts and Cultural Creativity Promotion Association’s Excellent Award, now a contemporary Taiwanese young ceramic artist
Teacher Yu Huayu has spent more than 20 years mastering the properties of various types of clay, incorporating his own creative skills, and combining tradition and modernity to develop the Yaoban Zhiye series, the Rock Mine series, and the Purple Clay Cloud Smoke series ceramic works. During this period, Teacher Yu also successfully reproduced the celadon firing technique of the Song Dynasty! The opening series of works imitates the wood-burning technique of the Song Dynasty. It was burned continuously for 5 days and 4 nights, and the temperature was maintained above 1260 degrees. After turning into ashes, the ash fell naturally, showing the "opening" of cyan porcelain from the Song Dynasty, which is amazing.
