Marjolein Bastin is a famous Dutch nature painter, writer, children's writer and illustrator, as well as the creator of "Vera the Mouse"; most of her works are based on flowers, birds, and other wild animals and plants around her. This series of designs is a cup set created by her in collaboration with J&G Meakin, an English pottery manufacturing company founded in 1851 and now part of the Wedgwood Group.
