This is a shallow bowl decorated with a crimson camellia, as seen blooming in the kiln's garden on a winter's day. The vibrant crimson camellia stands out beautifully against the subdued black glaze, creating a piece that evokes both Japanese aesthetics and the essence of the season. This piece is crafted from Shigaraki clay on a potter's wheel, forming a shallow bowl. The crimson camellia is then meticulously hand-painted and adorned with color layer by layer before being fired. The glaze, mixed in our own studio, is fired to achieve its unique hue, with careful consideration given to the natural colors of flowers during the painting process. Gold and silver accents are added to enhance the camellia's splendor. The application of gold and silver requires significant skill, demanding meticulous attention to temperature and humidity control during the firing process. It beautifully complements dishes and Japanese sweets, making it suitable for celebratory occasions and moments of hospitality.
