At that time, Russian Jewish immigrants Michael and Joseph Chernow founded their company in Providence, Rhode Island, USA. They named their company Monocraft Products Co. The Chernow brothers worked under this name for ten years, producing their first jewelry pieces in 1929. It's unclear what motivated the company's founders to eventually name their jewelry Monet. Perhaps they admired the works of Impressionist painters like Edouard Manet and Claude Monet. The Chernov brothers' brand, Monet jewelry, made its debut in 1937. This brand is renowned not only for its particular affection for "vintage" style.
