Look closer, and Graffiti has always been around us.
It's creativity, it's art, and it's a statement. Graffiti, born from a rebellious spirit, dances on the edges of law and socio-politics. Upon closer inspection, one can easily find a myriad of diverse and intriguing expressions on the streets of Hong Kong. From plumbing and renovation advertisements to vernacular poetry and spontaneous sketches; intentional or unintentional, monochrome or colorful... it constantly interacts with the city, shaping a unique and vibrant urban landscape.
"Graffiti is a byproduct of the free world. Graffiti has never been correctly translated in the Chinese-speaking world, just as Freedom has never been," says local creator MC Yan.
