Hagi ware is one of the representative tea pottery in Japan.
Since ancient times, there has been a saying about tea bowls: "Raku first, Hagi second, and Karatsu third."
The origin of Hagi ware dates back to 1604.
Mori Terumoto was transferred from Hiroshima to Hagi
The naturalized potters Yi Shaoguang and Yi Jing brothers from Korea make pottery here.
Like Karatsu ware, most of the tea bowls are made in the Korean style.
The clay for Hagi ware is the soil mined along the main road between Kogun and Hofu.
